Review - Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation / Ivory!

Review

"Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation is for girls on the go, Lasting Perfection Foundation will take you from dawn to dusk and back again, with no need for reapplication. Packaged in a glass bottle with an easy to use pump applicator, this high performance product also has an SPF20 to keep skin safe in the sun. The formula is also transfer proof and oil free." Boots website.

"This six in one foundation primes, conceals, covers, smoothes, protects and mattifies whilst keeping skin protected outdoors." Collection website.

Available in six (6) shades: 1/Porcelain, 2/Ivory, 3/Cool Beige, 4/Warm Beige, 5/Honey and 6/Golden.

After reading so many good reviews about the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, I decided to give both the foundation and the concealer a try and here are my thoughts on the foundation:

Variety

Although it has the same amount of shades as the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation (review - here), I couldn't find a shade that would match my skin. However I purchased shade number 2/Ivory. They also don't provide shades that are darker than medium skin tones.

Price

The Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation retails for £5.99 (currently on sale for £3.99 from Boots). This is probably one of the lowest prices you can find on drugstore foundations which is definitely a plus.

Packaging

From all the drugstore foundations I have tested I can say that the packaging of this one is my favourite. It has a thick, glass packaging which makes it look far more expensive than it actually is. I think that the packaging is really important and this one definitely feels like a high-end one!

Ease of use

Like most of the Collection's foundations, this one comes with a built-in pump as well. This makes application super easy in my opinion. As you can see from the picture this foundation has a more liquidy consistency than the others I've tried, like the Maybelline Supersaty Better Skin Foundation (review - here). I love that this foundation has more of a matte finish which is perfect as you don't really need to add a powder on top of it. However I found that this foundation is really difficult to work with as it dries out quickly making it difficult to blend.

Left - Bare Face | Right - One layer of Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation

Coverage

This foundation gives a medium to high coverage and it's buildable but it then looks cakey and unnatural in my opinion. I really like that it covers any imperfections or redness I have, without needing to add any concealer. As I mentioned due to its matte finish this foundation is perfect on its own, but I had no problem adding concealer and powder on top of it.

Longevity

I had really high hopes for this foundation in this category as it claims that it lasts up to 16 hours. However I couldn't be more disappointed. It lasts for about four to five hours on my skin (this obviously depends on your skin type - mine is normal to oily). The main reason I was disappointed though is that I've noticed that after a while my pores are really noticeable but adding a primer will probably solve this problem, however I am not a huge fan of wearing primer on my skin every single day! Also like the MAC Matchmaster foundation (review - here) it starts to get chalky in some areas, like between my eyebrows and on my nose, which is definitely not a plus.

Round Up

Pros:

  • Price
  • Medium to high coverage
  • Matte finish
  • Really nice packaging
  • Has SPF20
  • No need to finish it with powder
  • Comes with a built-in pump

Cons:

  • Not too many shades to chose from
  • Buildable but it looks kind of cakey and unnatural
  • Doesn't blend easily
  • Gets chalky in some areas
  • Makes pores more noticeable after a couple of hours
  • Last up to five hours

I wouldn't probably recommend this product, but if you are looking for something affordable and you don't really mind the short lasting power then you might want to give this product a try!

Thanks for reading:)

  31. It looks really nice on the "after" picture, but I get it why you say that it looks kind of unnatural and cakey! That foundation really reminds me one that I own from Kiko, and I wouldn't recommend it at all, either :/

    Nice review :)
